A leading UK clean energy developer has raised the necessary funding for 12 projects that will help the country reach its net zero aim for 2050.
BSR funding and projects
British Solar Renewables, also known as BSR, has obtained a debt facility worth £345m. The facility will fund 12 solar and battery energy projects across the UK, which will generate 600GWh every year. BSR is a leading clean energy developer that specialises in clean and renewable energy. This project is indicative of the confidence and growth in this area and is expected to help the UK reach its net zero target for 2050 while also helping to negate the country’s energy security issues.
The funding for the debt facility was secured in a second major round of financing. It has been made possible thanks to a range of high-profile lenders, including NatWest, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Lloyds, and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg.
BSR has set itself an impressive target, aiming to reach a renewable capacity of 7000MW by 2027. Part of this will be achieved via a solar farm in Kent, which will aim to boost wildlife and conservation efforts with a net gain of 60% in biodiversity over 40 years. A project in Doncaster will combine a solar plant and battery storage system, with another four UK solar projects planned across Essex and Suffolk.
The rise of solar energy in the UK
It is not only energy companies that are looking to harness the power of solar energy in the UK but also individual households. UK households are increasingly installing their own solar energy hardware on their roofs. Solar energy is a renewable and sustainable option that can save households hundreds of pounds each year.

BSR’s 12-location project has been made possible thanks to significant funding. It is hoped that this project will make a huge impact on the UK’s ability to develop cleaner energy over the next few decades.
