Nate Foster is 13 years old. He lives close to Pittsburgh, which is located in Pennsylvania. Nate loves musicals and wants to perform on Broadway. His friend is Libby, who also enjoys musical theater as well. Nate has an older brother named Anthony, who is a great athlete – much different than his own musical interests.

During the book, Nate decides to sneak away to try to audition for a musical with Libby’s help. At the time, his parents are gone away for their anniversary, and his brother is gone away from home too. This seems like a great situation for Nate to be in. He takes advantage of it. Nate wants to come back before his parents come home so that he doesn’t get caught. He gets on a bus and goes to NYC. However, like many other similar plans that kids come up with, it doesn’t exactly happen the way he would like it to. Nate also meets an aunt of his. 

Better Nate Than Ever will be a musical comedy film on Disney+. It will be released in 2022 in the springtime. There is a cast for the musical. Rueby Wood will play the role of Nate. Other cast members will include Lisa Kudrow, Joshua Bassett, Aria Brooks, Michelle Federer, and Norbert Leo Butz. Aria Brooks will play the role of Libby in the musical.
