Anyone who has children and uses a shower over a bath to give them a nice warm shower will know the perils of water flying everywhere all over the bathroom floor, the ceiling and even all over you. There are moments where I have been more soaked with water than my children who are in the shower. The best way to combat this issue is to use a suitable option for surrounding your shower and there are many different options available to you.
Shower screens
These screens are designed to be used in a variety of different ways including over a bath. They section of a small area – usually the piece immediately next to the shower and provide you with an effective guard to prevent water from flowing out over the top of the bath. They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, designs and even colours much like 8mm shower glass panels
Shower screens can be one of the best options as they are easy to install and then easy to maintain and clean and there is no need to ensure that you have straightened them out when they are wet like you need to do with a shower curtain. You can simply wipe down the screen to remove any excess water and soap suds to help prevent streaks from appearing and then regularly (perhaps once a week) spray the screen with some glass cleaner and bring the sparkle back to the glass.
Shower Curtains
These curtains are a quick and easy way to install a barrier between your shower and the outer environment. Again, you can find them in a variety of designs, patterns and colours. They require the installation of a horizontal pole across from one side of the bath to the other fitted into the wall. The curtains then hang down from this using plastic clips and you can simply open and close these as you would do any other curtain. One important thing to remember with shower curtains is that to help prevent mould and mildew from forming you should fully close the curtain when it is wet and allow it to dry completely.
Ensuring that the water from your shower remains in the bath area is important to help prevent mould, mildew and damp from occurring in the area. To prevent the bathroom floor from becoming a slip hazard you should use a good quality bathmat to absorb the water that drips down when you step out of the bath.
