The return of the ZR1 surname to the Corvette family means reviving the wildest American super car. According to the manufacturer, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 2019 is the most powerful, fast and advanced Corvette to date. And there has never been such a spectacular Corvette. It will be on sale next spring.
The new ZR1 uses a 6.2 liter V8 LT5 engine from aluminum and supercharged by compressor, with a power of 755 hp at 6300 rpm and a maximum torque of 969 NM from only 4000 laps, which is said soon. It is an evolution of the engine of the previous ZR1 (2009) and the Z06 (2015).
With such a power figure, it is the most powerful engine ever assembled in a production Corvette, partly thanks to the LT4 volumetric compressor system, with a capacity 52% higher than the compressor installed in the previous Z06, and also to the new system of dual fuel injection.
The eight-cylinder LT5 is available with a seven-speed manual transmission (yes, seven) or with an eight- speed automatic transmission with steering wheel paddles. Thus, it is the first time that an automatic change is offered in the Corvette ZR1.

A very aggressive aesthetic
According to Chevrolet, the form follows the function in the design of this ZR1, and that is the reason why the aesthetics of the model is so aggressive. The front, for example, is designed to channel air to the engine and also to cool it – through a total of 13 radiators. The hood is striking, with carbon fiber components and a prominent bulge that hides the compressor.
For customers looking to squeeze the most out of this new ZR1 2019 circuit, there are available two aerodynamic packages (Low Wing and High Wing) developed in the wind tunnel. The first, which generates an aerodynamic load 70% higher than that of Z06, will allow reaching the maximum speed of 338 km / h. For its part, the second package offers a large adjustable rear spoiler and maximum down force (up to 431 kilograms).
This latest High Wing package is part of the so-called ZTK Performance package, which also includes a front splitter with carbon fiber flaps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high performance tires (19 inches front and 20 inches behind) or a specific Magnetic suspension chassis Ride Control.
In any case, the Corvette ZR1 uses a suspension scheme of double triangles on both the front and rear axle, and the brake team also has carboceramics discs and six-piston calipers front and four pistons behind. The dry weight of the model amounts to 1598 kilograms.
Finally, Chevrolet offers an aesthetic package called Sebring Orange Design Package, which stands out for its body color in orange tone, the brake calipers in the same tone or various elements such as interior seams or seat belts also the same color, in addition to interior trim in bronze tone aluminum or leather upholstered seats with microfiber inserts.
Among the most interesting options are heated and ventilated Nappa leather seats, a carbon fiber steering wheel, competition seats, telemetry style data acquisition system or premium Bose audio equipment, among other things.
