The Gustav Holst Museum – The famous composer of ‘The Planets’ was born on 21st September 1874 in Cheltenham. The Holst museum in the town is a tribute to Holst and a great place to find out more about one of England’s most famous composers. At the Holst birthplace museum, you can come along and explore the life of the composer and how Regency and Victorian life was during that period in Cheltenham.

The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum – Polar explorer, Edward Wilson, who accompanied Captain Scott on his Antarctic expeditions, was not only an accomplished scientist but also a talented artist. At this museum, set up in his name you can explore the life of Edward Wilson and also view some stunning artwork form all over the world. With a wide range of exhibitions on and other events regularly being held, the Wilson is well worth a visit.

The Jet Age Museum – Just on the outskirts of Cheltenham, based in Staverton is the Jet Age museum. The jet age has a lot of its’ foundations, with Gloucestershire pilot Frank Whittle credited with inventing the jet engine in Gloucestershire and the jet age museum celebrates this. A great day out for all the family, you will have the opportunity to sit in the cockpits of planes from the Hawker Siddeley Trident to the Avro Vulcan Bomber – this museum is a real hands on experience.
